In January, GirlHero.net had a review and giveaway on Geek Fire Labs Lip Balm. I was drawn as the winner! So after much deliberation and narrowing down, I chose Cunning Hat, a lip balm inspired by Firefly/Serenity character, Jayne Cobb. (He's my favorite Firefly character. ♥)
The label design is adorable on this balm. Too cute.
The scent for this balm is Bananas Foster. Taken from the etsy description:
★ Smells like a memory of mom's delectable down-home dessert of bananas, brown sugar and vanilla, baked to mouth-watering perfection in the dutch oven underneath a canopy of stars. Walk down the street with this lip balm, people know you're not afraid of anything!
Just a note, the label on my lip balm looks like it was put on just slightly wrong.
The perforation is too far down from where the cap ends, so I had to run some scissors around it to open it properly. And the bottom of the label runs down over half of the twisty bit at the bottom of the balm. But it's still functional, so it's okay!
The balm itself is a plain white color, and it's not flavored. Not a bad thing, I often prefer unflavored balms - I have the tendency to lick my lips more often when they're flavored.
As for the scent - it is nicely scented. When I open the balm the scent just blasts you in the nose. The scent somewhat diminishes once it's on your lips, which is good for people like me, who can't take strong scents for too long. It's great. I've never actually smelled real Bananas Foster, so I'm not sure how close this scent is to the dessert.
What I can tell you, is that, to me, it smells like banana Laffy Taffy, and OMG do I love banana Laffy Taffy!! MMMMM.
And the good stuff that keeps your lips nice and soft stays for quite a while! In fact, it lasts longer than my ChapStick Hydration Lock balm, which claims 8 hour moisture, but in fact, lasts for much less time. I definitely, definitely prefer Cunning Hat to the ChapStick Hydration Lock.
Overall, I am in love with this balm. I neeeeeed to add more of these to my collection! ♥ ♥ ♥
